’Tis the season when salons and mobile stylists are high in demand, so it’s time to get creative with your Christmas Hairstyles to show your clients that you’re both on top of the trends and constantly refreshing your menu .
We’ve created a series of how-to videos for a little reminder of what the key trends are for this festive season (and more importantly, perfect Christmas party hair). For the first of our videos, we’ve opted for a braid upgrade by creating the ‘rope’ braid. Twists are the new plaits for 2016, so ensure your clients are ahead of the game with this gorgeous twisted style created by salon manager Simon Tuckwell.
Step 1: Prep with Osis Soft Glam Smooth Polish Elixir to add smoothness and movement to hair.
Step 2: Create two one-inch sections at the front of the head.
Step 3: Divide the first section in two.
Step 4: To prevent the braid from unwinding use your left hand to twist the hair, and use your right hand to hold the other piece to maintain the tension.
Step 5: Use a hair band to secure the braid, and then repeat on the other side.
Step 6: Spray the rest of the hair with Amika Headstrong Hairspray.
Step 7: Cross both braids at the back of the head, tie in a double knot and pin to secure.
Step 8: Tuck away the ends under the braids to hide them.
Step 9: Take a strand of hair to hide the grips.
Step 10: Use end of a pintail comb to bring out the areas above the braid to create volume.
Simon suggests: “This is great for clients with shorter hair at the front of the head, as this style allows those particularly short hairs to be tucked away in the rope braid, with hardly any product or pins.”
