It’s beginning to feel a lot like winter – and the perfect way to warm your complexion is by venturing to the dark side… of hair colour. We’re seeing blondes swapping ice-cool platinum to richer honey shades, and brunettes turning to bronde for a warm lift to their locks – but what about team red? Well, the beauty of red hair is it looks amazing no matter how hot or cool it is, from perfect peach to cherry red. However, this season redheads are stepping away from bold, Rihanna-reds to warmer, richer tones. Introducing the new head-turning fiery colour trend, ronze – a marriage of auburns and bronzes.
Anne Veck, artistic director of Anne Veck Salons, says: “I’m so excited ronze is going to be a big thing this season. I’ve been a redhead for years, and, yes, we do have more fun! Ronze is the perfect colour to take clients from summer to winter.”
Remember, going red means a lot (yes, a lot) of upkeep, so regular tone top-ups and weekly hair pampering is an absolute must – but when your hair looks that good… it’s totally worth it. Try Amika Color pHerfection Shampoo to keep colour healthy and vibrant for longer
XP100 offers an amazing variety of red tones from cherry to copper shades, so to recreate this look on hair base level 7 and above, choose a warm auburn shade, we love 7.44, and mix 1 part of this with three parts of a rich, brunette hue like the gorgeous 7.3. If you're feeling brave, mix equal parts for a more intense and bold finish. Once you've found your perfect colour match, apply the colour to the centre front of the head to the centre back nape, ear to ear. Remember, if your ends are lighter, apply the colour to the mid lengths and ends first. If your hair is more on the darker side of the scale, mix equal measures of XP100 6.3 and 6.4. Use a meche to apply diagonal slices of XP100 6.47 to create gorgeous multi-tones for an extra lift to tresses.
A few of you trendsetters are already on the ronze case, so here’s a few of our faves.
@denisdesouza is bringing the rock to red with this big, bouncy, fiery bob. We are loving the ombré finish.
Wow, the skills of @hair_by_jenmiller are clearly shown in this glossy colour and just-blow-dried ’do.
So, what’s the number for @lesalondigiusi? We NEED this colourist in our lives! Could there be a more beautiful hair and skin combination? Nah.
