VAT Free explained

How does VAT FREE work on Salon Services?

We have changed the way we give discounts to our customers.

Our changes are designed to reward our customers, and ensure that our regular shoppers get relevant offers throughout the year.

So, we are no longer posting paper VAT free vouchers with our monthly flyer, and instead we will issue various bespoke voucher offers via the tills in store, via email or by text. To ensure you receive these, please check your online permissions!

At certain times we will target customers with specific deals tailored to different professional needs. Please check your permissions to make sure you are eligible to receive offers and promotions going forward by email or text. You can do this by logging into your online account, visiting your local store or contacting our trade card team. Vouchers are given at the discretion of the company, as and when they choose to send them.

Getting VAT Free at Salon Services

We no longer hold a designated VAT Free day each month. We have changed the way we run events to make it more convenient for our customers. Please ensure your contact info is up to date & you have given permission for us to contact you, this way you will be included in any vat free offers.

Delivery and VAT Free

Next day delivery cannot always be guaranteed when placing a VAT Free order. Please allow extra time for us to dispatch your goods for Home Delivery and Click & Collect.

How does VAT FREE work?

  • VAT Free offers mean the total amount payable is the pre-VAT total of your order.

  • To comply with the law we must still charge and show VAT.

  • Even though we display the VAT on your order the total amount you pay is the pre-VAT total.

For Example

If you order an item costing £100 (ex VAT) the total you would normally pay is £120 (inc VAT).

When we are running a VAT Free promotion, we discount the price of the item to £83.33 (ex VAT)

Therefore when we add the VAT, the total you pay is £100 which would be the original price excluding VAT.

While the checkout will still show the VAT charged, we will discount the value that VAT is equal to.

This applies both online and in store on our receipts:

We remove the value of VAT from each of our products in your basket individually. Your basket order summary will still show you a ‘VAT total’ as we have to display this, but the value of the VAT discount will have been removed from the individual (ex VAT) product price.

Why is VAT still showing on my receipt?

To comply with law we need to show a VAT content on all invoices, therefore we cannot show £0 VAT on your invoice. All prices online are displayed excluding VAT, so we pre-discount your net goods first then add the VAT back on. For example, if you order an item costing £100 (ex VAT), the total you would normally pay is £120 (inc VAT). When we are running a VAT Free promotion, we deduct the net price of the item down to £83.33. Therefore when we add the VAT, the total you pay is £100, which would be the original price ex VAT.
