The worst hair and beauty trends ever

Posted on 28th October 2015 by PROinsider

It’s that time of year when we celebrate all things spooky, so we’ve dusted off the book of Past Beauty Trends that really give us the chills. Be warned, you will see some horrors, let’s just hope these looks never come back from the dead…

Lip liner

Remember when we took lip liner a little too literally and only wore it on the lip line? Oh dear.

Stripy highlights

The kids of today don’t realise how lucky they are with the blessings of balayage and écaille, never having to go through the struggles of zebra-stripe highlights.

Dodgy hair accessories

The 90s excelled itself with hair accessories – mini butterfly clips, hair springs and random flowers, so dodgy haircuts could draw more attention to themselves. Great.

Zig-zag hair partings

There’s just no need.

Thin eyebrows

We have sniffed a few skinny brows on the SS16 catwalks; hopefully it’s a false alarm.

Crimped hair

You wouldn’t think that it took hours to achieve this crimped look.

Pineapple hair

Before the cute top knot of today was introduced, women embraced the ‘pineapple head’ for a quick and easy way to style hair. Or to attend a film premiere, in Jennifer Love Hewitt’s case.

Flat hair twists

Ah, the jazzy I’m-going-out-out way to wear the pineapple head.

Brown lipstick

Bring back the lip liner!

Mini buns

Who even has that many elastic bands?

Either shave the whole head, or keep your hair long. You can’t have the best of both worlds.

Pigtails should not appear on anyone over the age of 12, unless you’re Cersei from Game of Thrones.
