8 of the hottest summer nail trends this year
Your nail clients have been waiting a loooong time to see you. And when your doors finally reopen, why not wow them with these top nail designs for summer 2020. We got the lowdown from nail pros Amy Ganney and Metta Francis on the trends you need to know about...
1. Rainbow nails
Pay tribute to our NHS heroes with this gorgeous rainbow design. “These are really popular and have become a symbol for the NHS”, says Metta.
2. Butterfly nails
Get creative with this gorgeous butterfly design. “Butterflies are a definite show-stopper this year”, says Amy. “They are really simple to do yet effective. You don’t have to be a nail art expert to create them and depending on your skills you can start basic or add more details for a more advanced butterfly.”
“Graffiti and pop art are becoming more popular, with people being a lot more adventurous with their nail designs.”
3. Tie dye nails
“These are a nod to all the festivals we should have been at, but that were cancelled”, says Metta. Stick to pastel colours to bring the tie dye trend bang up-to-date.
4. Animal print nails
Encourage your clients to be bold this summer. Metta says, “Thanks to the Tiger King, animal print - especially tiger print - has become really popular.”
5. Graffiti nails
Make a statement with these graphic nails. Amy says, “Graffiti and pop art are becoming more popular, with people being a lot more adventurous with their nail designs.”
6. Fruit-inspired nails
Pineapples, lemons, strawberries - brush up your skills for these delicate fruit creations.
7. Tropical nails
We might not be going on holiday this year. But at least we can have some beach vibes on our nails!
8. Neon nails
Break out the neon nail polish… “Neon is really big in sportswear and athleisure wear”, says Metta. “You’ll see this sports luxe in nail design as well, with flashes of neon rather than one block colour.”
