Precision Meets Post-Apocalyptic: Hair at Wei Kuo
From B-Boy battle floors to the fashion runway, Wei Kuo designs the way he once moved: with rhythm, restraint and razor-sharp precision. And now with his brand INFDARK his approach to fashion is just as choreographic. Every seam feels placed on a beat. Every silhouette holds tension.
His palette rarely strays beyond black, white and grey. It is disciplined, almost architectural. Strip away colour and you are left with proportion, cut and construction under a spotlight. Minimal, yes. But never empty.
This season, the inspiration centred on the process itself: the evolution of design, the making, the unmaking, the raw framework before the polish.
So where does hair sit in a story about construction?
The Hair Direction: Wasteland Texture, Intentional Imperfection
Leading the hair vision was Narad Kutowaroo, Creative Director of UNITE Hair and renowned session stylist. Working closely with Wei, Narad translated the collection’s conceptual depth into hair that felt deliberately unfinished.
The brief called for wasteland textures and post-apocalyptic braids. Think survivalist edge, but elevated. Grit, without losing control. Texture, without losing shape.

Braids were crafted to feel slightly undone, as if weathered by time, yet engineered with precision so they complemented the sharp tailoring. Surface texture played against clean silhouettes, creating contrast that mirrored the designer’s monochrome world.
The Product Toolkit
To achieve that controlled chaos, the team relied on:
- UNITE Hair Texturiza Finishing Spray for gritty, buildable texture
- UNITE Hair Elevate Mousse Volume Foam to create internal structure before braiding
- Wunderbar Vegan Finish-It Strong Hold Hairsprayto secure shape while maintaining movement
- Proxelli T-shaped Hairdryer to refine sections and enhance directional flow
The result was texture that looked organic but behaved professionally under runway pressure.
What Hairdressers Can Take Back to the Salon
This show is a reminder that minimal does not mean simple. Texture can be expressive without being excessive. Braids can feel rebellious while still being commercially wearable.
Clients are increasingly drawn to looks that feel lived-in rather than lacquered. Introducing subtle distressing, rougher finishes or deconstructed plaits can modernise classic services without alienating conservative tastes.
