International Women’s Day

International Womens Day

Empowered women are all around us and on this year’s International Women’s Day we give kudos to three inspiring women who are changing the nail industry.

Empowered Women in Business

Alisha Rimando Botero from Artistic Nail Design

We chatted to Alisha, Vice President and Creative Director from Artistic Nails, who explains the inspiration behind their collections and what has made the brand so successful.

"Real women inspire our collection. Women and their strengths and what they portray in real life. Women who work out and aspire to be the best cross country runner, or a racing car driver or painter. We take real situations and turn them into anyone’s dream and create collections from that.”

Educating and training technicians she also explains is vital to service your clients in the salon. Empowering your staff will empower your clients. Please share this post and tell us about the inspirational women in your life: your mum; bestie; hairdresser – we want to hear all about them!

Elaine Watson from Kupa

Elaine started out as a Nail Technician in 1999 and now sits as Kupa Executive Vice Pesident. Success comes from hard work and not luck

“Don’t think that you can put your brain on auto pilot and go from A – Z. I have a lot of people who say that I started as a Nail Technician and now I get to do all this travel and that I’m very lucky, I don’t think it is down to luck, I worked my arse off. If you think it’s easy it’s not. I didn’t go to college but I have a college degree in business, through years of experience”

We agree with Elaine - what a great industry to become whoever you want to be. Share this post and tell us about how you have overcome challenges in this industry as a female boss lady?

Morgan Haile from Morgan Taylor

Morgan comes from a family of nail technicians and initially studied a degree in healthcare and minor marketing before, herself, embarking on a career in the nail industry. Together with her cousin Taylor they developed their shared interests by creating the brand Morgan Taylor.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out?

“Definitely find out what your interests are whether its writing, fashion, being creative and then seeing where this takes you. Networking is so big now, I have found that by opening up and letting people know what you are interested in….you just never know where it may take you.”

Morgan makes us realise that it is important to take risks, follow your female instinct and always remember where you have come from.

Stay inspired
