Tanning: The SS15 trends

Posted on 12th June 2015 by PROinsider

The quest for golden skin dates back to the 1920s, and ninety years on tanning remains one of the most requested salon treatments. Check out the tanning trends happening right now in the bronzed world…

High-gloss
We’re no longer seeing dark and dense heavy tans this season, instead think high-gloss super-luxe tans sported by ’70s icons including Farah Fawcett.  This wet-look glow was seen at Julien Macdonald and Sophia Webster SS15, so give your client’s skin a treat with Tantruth The Shimmer for a honey-gloss makeover – applying to the shins will instantly elongate legs, so it’s perfect for clients who need a boost of confidence.

Tan on trend

Go for gold
The tangoed look is well and truly over (hurrah!) so this season is all about creating a natural, healthy glow with just subtle hints of golden undertones. The less-is-more tan strutted down the catwalk at the Amanda Wakely SS15 show, and it’s perfect to recreate on clients.  Aim for that stage of a suntan when the glowing red tones have calmed down to reveal a golden sheen. Recommend Moroccan Glow to clients for a natural tan that will gradually develop; it also doubles up as an extender, so clients can top up their suntans even when they’re back in sunless blighty!

Man up
Thanks to the likes of Mark Wright and David Beckham, there’s a nationwide epidmemic of tanning amongst British men.  According to a survey carried out by AURA tanning sprayers, the increased popularity of tanning amongst Britain's men has led to four out of five (90 per cent) UK beauty salons hiring on average up to five additional employees to cope with demand. So, make sure you’re maximizing profits by ensuring you’re enticing the boys in for a golden glow.  Some men want to get bronzed but get a bit embarrassed stepping into a salon, so invest in Tantruth Pink Spray Pro 45 Kit to bring the tan to the man.

Fresh freckles
This season is all about fresh-as-a-daisy skin, and nothing says fresh better than freckles as seen at Preen SS15.   This is perfect for snow-white clients who want to look sunkissed but find bronzed tones clash with their fair features.  Take an eye or lip pencil in a brown shade like Lord & Berry’s Ultimate Round Liner Nude, and lightly dab onto the nose and cheeks to create the faux freckles.  Using your finger, gently blend the freckles to make them look natural.  Finish with a sweep of peach over the cheeks – be careful not to be heavy handed so the freckles poke through.
