The X Factor vs. Strictly Come Dancing

Posted on 16th October 2015 by PROinsider

For years the nation has been divided into two fractions – The X Factor vs. Strictly Come Dancing. But whether you’re an X Factor fanatic or addicted to Strictly, there’s no denying that both shows add some much-needed glitz and glamour to our Saturday nights. Do you find yourself gazing at the TV yearning to recreate Cheryl’s perfect make-up, or dream of transforming your hair into glossy waves fit for nailing the charleston? Thought so. Here are a few of our fave looks from both shows so far this year – and a how-to so you can create the looks at home for the ultimate The X Factor and Strictly makeover.

The X Factor

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini

We can’t wait to see Cheryl’s show-stopping hair and make-up on the live shows, but we’ve spotted a few easy-to-copy looks from Mrs Fernandez-Versini already, including this one. Apply Ardell Natural Demi Wispies, sweep Lord & Berry Seta Shadow in Nude Rose over lids, and finish with a slick of their 20100 Lipstick in Intimacy. Create a side parting and set aside a one-inch section at the front. Tease the rest of the hair at the crown to create height for the beehive. Using a Kent Narrow Smoothing Pure Bristle Brush, smooth back the hair, remembering not to brush too hard – you don’t want to lose that beehive – and secure into place at the nape of the neck. Smooth the front section behind the ear and secure into place, and then pin the loose end with the rest of the hair into a low bun.

Rita Ora

Rita rules the red carpet with her edgy-glamour get-ups, and she hasn’t disappointed for her debut appearance on The X Factor. Enhance brows with 24hr Brow Powder Compact Dark Brown, and create a smokey eye using the charcoal and silver shades from the Nazila Dusk Till Dawn Eyeshadow Palette. Rita’s pout gives a nod to the 90s by applying lipliner just to the outline, so if you’re brave enough to rock the trend use Lord & Berry Ultimate Round Liner in Rusty. For the hair, take three half-inch sections at the scalp and create three plaits using a French-plait method for the first two to three inches, and then continue to create three loose plaits. Take the rest of the hair up into a sleek, high ponytail and pin the three plaits into place, so they run alongside the ponytail.

Strictly Come Dancing

Kristina Rihanoff

Kristina has brought Marilyn Monroe-inspired glamour to Strictly for years, so she’s definitely one of our fave Saturday night style icons. Recreate Kristina’s flawless, bronzed complexion with Lord & Berry Bronzer, then sprinkle Lord & Berry Stardust Eyeshadow in Gold for that Strictly sparkle and finish with a pout that packs a punch by using Lord & Berry Vogue Lipstick in Mandarino. Finally, use the Diva Professional Styling Feel The Heat Magnetic Multi–Wand to get those showgirl curls.

Georgia May Foote

Georgia is quickly becoming one of our fave contestants and not just because of her fancy footwork. Apply Salon System’s Naturalash 149 to create the illusion of winged lashes, cover lids with Lord & Berry Seta Shadow in Zahra and finish by dabbing Lord & Berry Powder Eyeshadow in Stardust to the inner-corners. Tease the hair to add some texture to tresses, and create a French plait, starting from the hairline and changing to a fishtail at the nape of the neck to the ends.
